Koninklijke Nederlandse Pharmaceutische Studenten Vereniging
The K.N.P.S.V. is the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Students Association that represents all pharmacy students and (bio-)pharmaceutical science students in the Netherlands. As a member of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum” you automatically become a member of the K.N.P.S.V. and this provides even more opportunities on both social and professional level.
The K.N.P.S.V. is the national pharmaceutical students association, which means that aside from the members of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum”, the members of L.P.S.V. „Aesculapius” and U.P.S.V. “Unitas Pharmaceuticorum” and the Vereniging van Chemie Studenten aan de Vrije Universiteit are members of the K.N.P.S.V. Each year the board comes from Groningen, Leiden or Utrecht. This year the board comes from Groningen and the board room is located in the UMCG. Through the K.N.P.S.V. you can come in contact with other pharmacy students in the Netherlands.
The K.N.P.S.V. also maintains contact with other associations such as the KNMP, VJA, NIA, JongNVZA and NVZA. These contacts with the various associations within the pharmaceutical world can help you orientate early in your student years in the professional field and this offers prospects for the future. In collaboration with the professional associations the K.N.P.S.V. has set up a special project named the ‘snuffelstage’ which is a one day internship. You can experience a day in a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or pharmaceutical company to see what type of work is being done.
Besides the contact with fellow students in the Netherlands and professional associations, the K.N.P.S.V. is active on international level. The K.N.P.S.V. is a member of the European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (EPSA) and International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). Both EPSA and IPSF organize a (semi) annual congress which consists of one week full of meetings, parties and getting to know other cultures and cities. These congresses are very informative and most of all very fun. The Netherlands is represented by the commissioner of Foreign affairs and the commissioner of general affairs of the K.N.P.S.V. In collaboration with these associations the K.N.P.S.V. organises several activities such as the TWIN. The TWIN is an exchange program between two European cities consisting of two weekends. All members of the K.N.P.S.V. can participate in the activities of EPSA and IPSF such as the congresses or summer universities. The individual mobility project (IMP) is an internship organised in collaboration with EPSA allowing master students or students who have just graduated to follow a paid internship from 2 to 12 months in a European city. For a shorter exchange program you can go abroad with IPSF for a period from 2 weeks till 3 month (SEP).
In addition to activities that are organized by P.S. the K.N.P.S.V. also organizes some activities such as a sports day, a congress and some parties. During these activities pharmacy students from all three cities can come together and get to know each other. To organize these activities the K.N.P.S.V. has some committees formed by members from the three cities. There is a committee which organizes the annual K.N.P.S.V. Congress taking place in May. The International Committee (IC) organizes international informative readings and the TWIN. The Future and Education Perspetives Committee (TOP) organizes a professions day and the sports committee organises a sports day in the June.
The K.N.P.S.V. has an association magazine called the Folia Pharmaceutica. This magazine contains scientific articles, activity reports, photos and other interesting pieces.
The K.N.P.S.V. can broaden your student life on both social and professional level.
