Koninklijke Nederlandse Pharmaceutische Studenten Vereniging

The K.N.P.S.V. is the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Students Association that represents all Dutch pharmacy students and biopharmaceutical sciences students. As a member of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaciae Sacrum” you automatically become a member of the K.N.P.S.V. and this brings even more possibilities with it.

The K.N.P.S.V. is the national pharmaceutical student association, which means that not only the members of G.F.S.V. “Pharmaceutical Sacrum” are part of the K.N.P.S.V., but also the members of L.P.S.V. “Aesculapius” and U.P.S.V. “Unitas Pharmaceuticorum”. Each year the board is from Groningen, Leiden or Utrecht, and this year the board is located in Leiden. Via the K.N.P.S.V. you can come into contact with pharmacy students from other cities.

In addition to the connection with and between the pharmacy students, the K.N.P.S.V. maintains the contact with other associations such as the KNMP, VJA, NIA, JongNVZA and NVZA. The ties with the various associations within the pharmaceutical world can help you orientate early in your student days in the professional field and this offers prospects for the future. In collaboration with the professional associations, the K.N.P.S.V. set up a special project, namely the 'snuffelstage' (an internship). You can experience a day in a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or pharmaceutical company, so you can see the kind of work being done within that company or industry.

Besides the contact with fellow students in the Netherlands and professional associations, the K.N.P.S.V. can get you in touch with international pharmacy students. The K.N.P.S.V. is in fact a member of the European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (EPSA) and International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). Both EPSA and IPSF organize a (semi) annual conference which consists of one week full of meetings, parties and getting to know other cultures and cities. These conferences are very friendly and informative. The Netherlands are well represented. Besides this, these associations also implement the NK baliegesprekken and the student exchange program (SEP). All our members can participate in the activities of EPSA and IPSF. Finally, there is the internship program of EPSA, the individual mobility project (IMP). This allows master students or just graduated students to follow a paid internship from 2 to 12 months abroad.

In addition to activities that are organized by Pharmaciae Sacrum, K.N.P.S.V. organizes a number of activities by itself. This is where pharmacy students from all three cities can come together. To organize all this, the K.N.P.S.V. has a number of committees formed by members from the three cities. There is a committee which organizes the annual K.N.P.S.V. Congress. The International Committee (IC) organizes international evenings and an exchange with students from another country (TWIN). Besides, the Future and Perspetives Committee (TOP) organizes events to prepare you for your future. Finally, the Charity Committee organizes activities to give something back to society. The program for the activities each year, is determined by the committee, such as this year’s Vampire Cup. Other activities include the occupation day, the first year activity and sports day.

The K.N.P.S.V. has an association magazine, the Folia Pharmaceutica. This magazine, you probably have received once already, contains scientific articles, reports of activities, photos and other interesting pieces.

The K.N.P.S.V. can mean a lot to you and if you’re interested, speak to the board (at parties, meetings or other activities), email us, or visit the website www.knpsv.nl.
