The first-year symposium will be held on the 10th of March from 14:00h-17:00h. Due to the Covid-19 measurements, this symposium will be held online. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Habit or secret addiction? – the brain’s reward system”. The purpose of this theme is to educate you on how the reward system in the brain is involved with addictions. Another purpose is to explain how the fine line between a daily habit or a secret addiction is defined and when we consider this line crossed.

Since most of you have not participated in a symposium yet, we would like to give a bit of background information about what a symposium is. A symposium is basically a lecture lead by a chairman and with multiple guest speakers that have a lot of experience with and knowledge about the theme subject. With this symposium, there will be three speakers and a chairman. Afterwards, there is a possibility to pick up a free pizza from “Domino’s” in Groningen! The exact location will later be announced. If you would like to have a pizza, please type yes in the remarks, followed by your choice of pizza. The possibilities are listed below. However, there is a maximum of 75 pizzas. It will be first-come, first-served, so make sure to enrol as fast as you can!

If you would like to receive a pizza, you have to sign up for this symposium before the 3rd of March!

NOTE: This symposium is mandatory for the course “Academic Research and Communication Skills 1”
