On Wednesday 3th of February 2021, the 139th Dies Natalis will be opened at the Scientific Symposium of Pharmaciae Sacrum. As current topic the Dies committee has chosen the following subject: “Rare diseases: mostly unknown, but di(e)sastrous for individuals.”. A lot of rare diseases don’t get the attention they deserve, so a number of rare diseases will receive some deserved attention during the symposium. Six speakers, all experts of a specific disease, will speak during the day. Prof. dr. Haisma will be the chairman of the day. In the morning, prof. dr. N. Biermasz will speak about rare pituitary conditions, prof. dr. Kremer about Huntington’s disease, and dr. Niks about Duchenne muscular dystrophy. After a lunch break, prof. dr. Beekman continues with a presentation about the use of patient-derived cells for studies on cystic fibrosis. Prof. dr. Meijer will talk about hemophilia, and prof. dr. Ravenswaaij will tell about her Chromosome 6 Project, in which parents of diseased children are actively participating.

The program can be found here. The accreditation will be 4 points for hospital pharmacists, and 4.5 points for public pharmacists. Members of Pharmaciae Sacrum can register on this page. Non-members and alumni of P.S. can register via the registration form. You can register for the symposium until Sunday the 30th of January 2020.
